Information regarding outside scholarships:

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program
  Abbot and Fenner Business Consultants offer a $1,000 scholarship each year to
  the winner.  Eligible applicants are those that are no more than 30 years old and are
  currently enrolled in any accredited post-secondary institution.  Please see their
  website for more details.
  Application deadline: June 19, 2010

AFCEA Scholarship for Working Professionals
  Scholarship is granted to sophomore, juniors, and seniors attending part-time
  with at least a 3.0 GPA. 
  Application deadline for 2009 has passed

AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students
  For undergraduate minority students studying accounting. Please see the link for  
  additional details.
  Application deadline for 2009 has passed

American Association of University Women (AAUW)
  A fellowship granted to a female pursuing full-time enrollment 
  in Computer/Information Sciences.  
  Applications now available; Deadline January 10,2010

Association for Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE)
  With at least 30 completed credit hours and a 3.25 cumulative GPA based on
   the last 30 hours completed, scholarships are granted on a funds available basis.  
   Application deadline for 2009 has passed

Datatel Foundation Scholarships
  Since HPU is a Datatel institution, students are eligible to compete for the following  
  scholarships:

  Angelfire scholarship
  Russ Griffith Memorial Scholarship

DestinyOne CE Scholarship
  Scholarship for nontraditional learners currently enrolled in courses or programs 
  through continuing education divisions in Canadian- or American-accredited
  institutions.  
  Application Deadline for 2009 has passed

Women in Need Scholarship -- The Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting
  Available to women in their third, fourth, or fifth year of academic pursuit who need
  the financial support to complete their degrees. This 2-year, $2,000 per year
  scholarship is renewable annually upon satisfactory completion of course
  requirements.
  Scholarship is not being offered for 2009

Federal TEACH Grant
Check with your financial aid advisor for more information and additional regulations.
  --Grant requires four years of teaching to fulfill
  --Recipient has eight years to fulfill service requirement
  --If full four years of teaching service are not met, the grant is repayable as a Direct
    Unsubsidized Loan with interest.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
  This scholarship is awarded to students transferring from a community college or  
  two-year institution.  Visit the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation site for more 
  information.

Jeannette Rankin Foundation 
   Available to women 35 years old and older pursuing their first bachelor's degree
   with substantial financial need.  
   Applications for the 2010 year will be accepted beginning
   November 1, 2009

Leading the Future II Scholarship
  Open to students currently enrolled, only the first 500 applications are accepted.

Linda Lael Miller Scholarship
  
Open to women age 25 and older.  Additional rules are available on the website.
   Application deadline has passed.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship Program
  Open to students of any age with MS and a high school diploma or GED  
  or first time college students with a high school diploma or GED and a parent living
  with MS.
  2010 Scholarship applications will be accepted from October 15, 2009  
  through January 15, 2010

National Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation
 Part-time or full-time enrolled students with a "B" average and majoring in       
 accounting.                                                        
 2010 Applications will be accepted from October 15, 2009 through
 January 15, 2010

North Carolina Teacher Assistant Scholarship Fund
  To be eligible for initial TASF consideration in 2009-2010, an individual must:
       1) Be a full-time teacher assistant for at least one year at a public or
            federal school in North Carolina
       2) Be a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes
       3) Not be in default on a student loan
       4) Have at least 3.0 cumulative grade point average (students with higher 
           grade point averages will generally be more competitive and stand a better
           chance of receiving funding)
       5) Enroll in a program leading toward initial teacher licensure at a North 
           Carolina college (see list of qualifying campuses on application). Enrollment
            through the Internet or other distance education programs is acceptable
       6) Enroll in at least six semester hours of coursework at qualifying campuses for
            each semester in which funds are received
       7) Demonstrate financial need according to the financial aid office at your
            institution.

North Carolina Veterans Association Scholarship:
  This award is presented to children of veterans of the United States armed forces.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation
  Low-income women with minor children enrolled in a degree-seeking or skills
  training program may qualify to apply for this award.  Please see the website for
  details.

Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards
   Open to women with financial need, provide family primary financial support, and
   have been accepted to an undergraduate degree program.  Additional rules are
   available on the Soroptimist International's website.
   Application Deadline: December 1, 2009

Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund
  Must be a degree-seeking female with awards based primarily on financial need,  
  previous achievements, and at least 10 years since high school diploma or GED.

USAFunds Access to Education Scholarships
  Open to full- or half-time undergraduates with a 2008 Federal 1040
  adjusted family gross income of
  $35,000 or less.
  Application Available; Deadline December 15, 2009

Walmart Higher Reach Scholarship
   Open to part-time or full-time Walmart employees that have been employed for at least
   6 consecutive months by March 29, 2010.  Please check the website for other program
   guidelines. 
   Application Deadline: January 29, 2010

The Women's Independence Scholarship Program, Inc.  
  Scholarships are available for women who have left an abusive domestic situation  
  and are pursuing an education.  A counselor, advocate, and support staff
  scholarship is also available.  Deadlines are ongoing depending on program entry
  date.
